Bipolar mania is the cause of the most destructive behavior which has had the greatest effect on the man this Bipolar book is about. For the most part mania can be brought on by anti-depressive drugs. It can’t be brought on by alcohol, marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine, or steroids. These drugs may intensify a manic state of mind. Using drugs may bring about a temporary state of mania but it doesn’t fit into the one week duration to qualify as a true manic episode. Imagine on a scale of 0 to 10, 10 being the most dramatic. Imagine your actions, behavior, moods, and thought process being turned up to 10 all the time. Mania can make you hypersexual, craving sex constantly and if you don’t have a partner you may chronically masturbate. Mania makes you feel superior over everybody else in every way. You will have grandiose thoughts like I am going to be a movie star, a rock-star, the president or that your ideas are worth millions of dollars. You will experience a drastic change in sleep pattern no longer do you need 8 hours of sleep a night you may feel completely energized with only 2 to 4 hours of sleep. You will become more of a risk taker putting yourself into dangerous situations, fighting a lot, driving your car recklessly; have radical views on race, religion or politics. You may go on spending sprees buying things you do not need and wiping out your life savings. No longer care about other people’s feelings or political correctness. You may say or act in any way you want without worrying about the consequences. You feel that the law does not apply to you, that you are above the law. You will self medicate with drugs or alcohol, it would be like pouring gas on a fire. Your relationships with your spouse, your girlfriend\boyfriend, your children, relatives, your friends, and your coworkers will dissipate because nobody will want to be around you. You will go into a rage over the smallest things, completely skipping over anger. You believe that the whole world is wrong and that you are right.
